The University is pleased to offer the following range of scholarships to students of high academic ability for September 2016 entry.

1. Faculty Undergraduate Scholarships 2016

We are pleased to offer scholarships to all international students starting their studies in the Faculties of Engineering, Science, Arts and Humanities, and the School of Law in September 2016. The scholarships are worth £2,500 per year each for Faculties of Engineering, Science, £2,000 for Faculties of Humanities and the School of Law. Eligibility and Award Criteria:
• You must hold an offer of a study place and begin your undergraduate studies in September 2016.
• You must be self-funding and classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes.
• The scholarships are for full-time and part-time students only. Students studying via Distance Learning are not eligible for the scholarships.
• Part-time students will receive the full value of a one year of scholarship split pro rata over the duration of an equivalent single full-time academic year.
• The scholarships will be awarded automatically – no application is required in the first or any subsequent years.
• The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of studies. Receipt of the award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of a 60% overall average mark in the previous academic year.
• The scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction only.
• The scholarships will not be applied during any optional or compulsory study abroad periods or year in industry.
• The Scholarships will not be awarded where partial funding is applicable from an external body* and there is an agreement already in place between the external body and the University of Sheffield to offer a tuition fee discount to the student.
• The Alumni Reward can be awarded in conjunction with other University of Sheffield scholarships as long as the individual does not become fully funded, for tuition fee purposes, as a result of the sum of these awards.
* Government or governmental organisation – international, national or regional; Research council; Charity; private enterprise; or any similar organisation.

2. Undergraduate International Merit Scholarships 2016

In addition to the scholarships listed above the University of Sheffield also offers scholarships for students starting any undergraduate course at the University of Sheffield in September 2016.
Each scholarship is worth 50% of the Undergraduate annual tuition fee. This is guaranteed in the first year of study and is available in each subsequent year, excluding any years in industry or years abroad, subject to achieving 60% or above in the previous academic year – this applies to all undergraduate programmes except Medicine and Dentistry. Students of Medicine or Dentistry will only receive the scholarship for the non-clinical years (Medicine years 1 & 2 and Dentistry year 1).
The 50% tuition fee reduction will be deducted from the original fee before any other scholarships, discounts and rewards have been applied.
The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the supporting statement. The final decision will be made by an academic panel.
If you wish to be considered for this scholarship you need to apply online, the application link will be distributed to eligible students by email from January onwards.
Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield. The scholarship will be available only to applicants who have made the University of Sheffield their first or firm choice.

3. Other Undergraduate Scholarships

International Baccalaureate Merit Undergraduate Scholarships 2016

Ten scholarships are available for International Baccalaureate Diploma holders starting their undergraduate studies in September 2016.
Each scholarship is worth 50% of the annual undergraduate tuition fee. This is guaranteed in the first year of study and is available in each subsequent year, excluding any years in industry or years abroad, subject to achieving 60% or above in the previous academic year – this applies to all undergraduate programmes except Medicine and Dentistry. Students of Medicine or Dentistry will only receive the scholarship for the non clinical years (Medicine years 1 & 2 and Dentistry year 1).
The 50% tuition fee reduction will be deducted from the original fee before any other scholarships, discounts and rewards have been applied.
The International Baccalaureate scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be studying for or holding the International Baccalaureate Diploma, apply for an undergraduate study place by Friday 15 April 2016 and hold an offer of a study place for entry in September 2016. Applicants must also be self funding and classified as overseas for fee paying purposes.
Eligible students will automatically be sent details of how to apply from January onwards.
Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.
The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of studies. Award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of 60% overall average mark.
The deadline for applications is Friday 22 April 2016; scholarship results will be announced Friday 27 May 2016.

Advanced Placement (AP) Merit Undergraduate Scholarships 2016

There are three scholarships are available for AP holders starting their undergraduate studies in September 2016 and who have taken or are planning to take a minimum of three Advanced Placement tests.
Each scholarship is worth 50% of the annual undergraduate tuition fee. This is guaranteed in the first year of study and is available in each subsequent year, excluding any years in industry or years abroad, subject to achieving 60% or above in the previous academic year – this applies to all undergraduate programmes except Medicine and Dentistry. Students of Medicine or Dentistry will only receive the scholarship for the non clinical years (Medicine years 1 & 2 and Dentistry year 1).
The 50% tuition fee reduction will be deducted from the original fee before any other scholarships, discounts and rewards have been applied.
The Advanced Placement scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be studying for or have taken Advanced Placements, apply for an undergraduate study place by Friday 15 April 2016 and hold an offer of a study place for entry in September 2016. Applicants must also be self funding and classified as overseas for fee paying purposes.
Eligible students will automatically be sent details of how to apply from January onwards.
Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.
The scholarships will be awarded unconditionally in the first year of studies. Award in subsequent years of study is subject to the achievement of 60% overall average mark.
